Dayan Town is located in the county seat of Lijiang, on the north bank of the Li River, about 29km by river from Guilin. Built in the late Song and early Yuan dynasty, it has a history of 800 years. The ancient city is well preserved, and in 1997 it was included in the list of UNESCO's World Heritage sites. Sifang Street is at the center of the town, with roads radiating in all directions.

According to research, this town was formed at the beginning of the Song dynasty. A 2.3km-long and 2m-wide stone street runs through the town with various ancient buildings lining both sides. These structures, mainly form the Ming and Qing dynasties, are famous for their magnificence, refinement andpracticality. The simple and elegant Longevity Bridge, built during the Ming dynasty, is located on the south side of town. The commerce in Daxu town first appeared in the Song dynasty and flourished at the end of the Qing dynasty. Today, at three day intervals, there is a bazaar in the town. On that day, thousands of people, with their own products, go to the fair. Noisy and busy, trade becomes the themeof that day.

The roads in the town are paved with colorful stone plates, and brook water is led to people's residences. All the houses are of wood-and-earth structures with tiled roofs, and in courtyards flowers and trees are grown, looking elegant and tranquil. In the evening, concert of Dongba Dongj ing Music is held in the ancient town.
