Day 01 Shanghai
Landing in Shanghai, "where East meets West", you are met and
transferred to your hotel.
Day 02 Shanghai (B, L)
Tour Shanghai's premier sights: the traditional Yuyuan Garden, waterfront
Bund, acclaimed Museum, and charming Children's Palace.
Day 03 Shanghai / Beijing (B, L)
Fly to Beijing, a world class capital with an incredible mix of historic
and modern landmarks.
Day 04 Beijing (B, L)
Tour the landmarks of imperial Beijing: the Forbidden City, closed to
the public for 500 years; the Temple of Heaven, and Summer Palace.
Day 05 Beijing (B, L, SD)
Today's tour showcases the Great Wall, built entirely by hand; and the
Ming Tombs, before a Peking Duck dinner in Beijing.
Day 06 Beijing / Chongqing (B, L, D)
Travel by air to the heart of Sichuan. Tour Chongqing if time permits,
before boarding your cruiser. Settle into your outside stateroom, then
meet your American crew at a welcome reception and briefing.
Day 07 Yangtze River Cruise (B, L, D)
Begin sailing along one of the finest stretches of river scenery in the
world. Enjoy your ship's fine facilities as you sail to Fengdu, a folkloric
"ghost city".
Day 08 Yangtze River Cruise (B, L, D)
Enter the first of the great Three Gorges, Qutang, embraced by soaring
peaks blanketed with mist and greenery. Sail to the Daning River, for
a boat cruise through the Little Three Gorges, a lush unspoiled passage
with exotic birds and monkeys.
Day 09 Yangtze River Cruise (B, L, D)
A thrilling final day of cruising, as you traverse Xiling Gorge and visit
the new Three Gorges Dam site, the largest construction project in the
world.
Day 10 Wuhan / Xian (B, L)
Disembark in Wuhan and fly to historic Xian.
Day 11 Xian (B, L, SD)
Tour one of the great discoveries of our era, Xian's ancient army of terra
cotta soldiers. Also explore the Provincial Museum, the landmark Big Wild
Goose Pagoda, and Ming- era City Gate. This evening enjoy a fine banquet
and stage show at the Tang Dynasty Theater.
Day 12 Xian / Guilin (B, L)
Fly to China's most scenic city. Best known for its immortal stone mountains,
Guilin also is noted for fantastic caves, and this afternoon you'll explore
the finest, Reed Flute, full of oddities and historic treasures.
Day 13 Guilin (B, L, SD)
Today, cruise in air- conditioned comfort on the Li River, where every
turn offers breathtaking new views of vertical peaks, weathered stone
pinnacles, caverns, soft bamboo groves, and other pastoral landscapes
that have inspired so much Chinese art and poetry. Dinner and a cultural
show complete the day.
Day 14 Guilin / Guangzhou / Hong Kong (B, L)
Fly to Guangzhou, the fabled city of Canton. If time allows, tour the
tropical delta scenery and commercial districts, before continuing by
jetfoil to glittering Hong Kong.
Day 15 Hong Kong (B)
Tour Hong Kong Island's old and new sights this morning, from Victoria
Peak's classic tram and glittering new Tower Complex, to quaint Aberdeen,
Repulse Bay and the teeming markets of Stanley.
Day 16 Hong Kong (B)
Enjoy and open day so you can shop and explore on your own.
Day 17 Hong Kong / Home (B)
Bid farewell to China as you fly aboard your selected airline home.
