Huangpu River Cruise Lines

Cruising on the Huangpu River starts from the Shiliupu Pier to the south of the Bund, passing through the scenic spots of the New Bund, the Binjiang Avenue of Pudong New Area, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and the People's Hero Memorial Column. Downstream along the river, you can see row upon row of high-rises standing on both banks of the river and ships cruising one after another on the river. The trip takes around three or four hours.

A dragon boat carries tourists on a cruise along the Huangpu River. We walked down the Bund to Shiliupu Ferry and boarded "Huangpu Tourism," which claims to be the country's biggest luxury dragon boat.

We departed on time at 7:00pm after hearing the loud sound of a big horn. Two dragons with their heads held high decorate the front of this huge boat, which makes passengers feel as if they are riding on their backs.
Built in Shanghai, the boat is 55.6 metres long and 17 metres wide, providing 2,800 square metres of space to accommodate as many as 800 people.

We chose the first-class cabin at the head of the boat because of its excellent view from hard mahogany chairs decorated with carved dragons.

Waiters served hot green tea, which made you feel a little warmer in the air-conditioned cabin, where scores of international tourists choose to experience cruises on the Huangpu River.

The boat headed to the mouth of the Yangtze River as the guide explained what we were seeing on the one-hour cruise. Because of the larger passenger loads at night, it was not easy to catch her conversation.

Before reaching the 7,658-metre long Yangpu Bridge, the boat turned around and headed back.

Touring Yangpu Bridge (one-hour journey)
Price: 35 yuan ($4.22), 25 yuan ($3.02)
